Prohibition of Drawing Portraits
Abu Talhah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a portrait."[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].


Commentary:
Angels here means angels of mercy whose visit is a blessing for homes, because the angels who supervise us and record our deeds are with us all the time.
305/1684 - Riyad Us-Saliheen (Gardens of the Righteous)
باب تحريم تصوير الحيوان في بسَاط أوحجر أو ثوب أو درهم أو مخدَّة أو دينار أو وسادة وغير ذلك
وتحريم اتخاذ الصورة في حائط وستر وعمامة وثوب ونحوها والأمر بإتلاف الصور
وَعَنْ أبي طَلْحَةَ رضي اللَّه عَنْهُ أنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قَال : « لا تَدْخُلُ المَلائِكَةُ بَيْتاً فِيهٍِ كَلْبٌ وَلا صُورَةٌ » متفقٌ عليه .
